Juvederm Dermal Fillers: What Every Patient Needs To Know.

Logo_juvedermxc

There are many options available to people looking for dermal fillers today.  So many, that it can often be confusing when it comes to finding the right one for their needs.  From Radiesse, to Restylane the options are seemingly endless.  However, one need look no further than the best filler on the market: Juvederm dermal filler.

Juvederm is a FDA approved "cross linked" hyaluronic acid-based gel that can improve skin volume, as well as fill in any unwanted wrinkles.  "Cross linked" means that the hyaluronic acid has its  chains bonded together which results in a substance that can last in the face for months, as opposed to days (it only takes 1-2 days for the human body to metabolize acid in it non-linked form).  This translates to Juvederm injections remaining in the skin for quite a substantial period of time, in fact, it is the only filler FDA approved to last up to one year!  This means that depending on where it is injected, results can be visible for quite a lengthy term, which is what most people looking for fillers hope for.

Though the brand name Juvederm is quite well-known, what is lesser-known is that there are different variations of Juvederm:

Juvederm XC Plus : A standard filler that is utilized in the upper-layers of the epidermis to correct shallow wrinkles, as well as add volume to lips.

Juvederm XC Ultra Plus : This form of Juvederm is usually used in the mid to deep layers of the dermis.  Juvederm XC is primarily used to treat deep wrinkles and creases, like naso-labial folds (laugh lines) for extended periods of time.  It is a much more robust formulation than its counterpart, and can correct much more extreme signs of aging.

A medical proffessional can help you find the right formulation of Juvederm to achieve the results you want, but it is good to know that both versions of Juvederm are long-lasting, effective fillers.

Possible Side Effects :

As with all injections, redness may occur at the injection site, as well as slight bruising, though both of those side-effects can be dependent on the medical professional injecting the filler.  There also can be a slight risk of infection (as with all injections) at the injection site, though as long as the area is kept clean, there is a very minimal chance of that happening.

To find a medical professional in your area, visit Allergan's physician locator, or if you happen to live in the Orange County, CA area, visit The Skin Care Clinic.com to learn more.  You can even schedule a free consultation online, and meet with a medical professional that can assist you in finding the right filler for you!

The Differences Between Botox and Dysport

Botox and Dysport are two very effective and popular cosmetic treatments that are used all over the country today. There are a few differences and similarities between the two, along with a few considerations to think about when choosing between the two. It is important to understand what each of them is, how they work and what the dangers or concerns with them are.

Botox Injections

Botox is known more scientifically as Botulinum toxin, which means it is a bacteria and a toxin, making it dangerous. Botox injections are used, however, to control muscle spasms and for several different cosmetic procedures, for anything from crow's feet and fine lines around the mouth to stopping the production of sweat in the armpit area. The toxin moves into the muscle and skin tissue of the injection site and paralyses the tissue, making it difficult or impossible to move or use those muscles or that skin tissue and therefore reducing the lines and wrinkles of the area.

Side Effects of Botox

Botox injections have several side effects that are common though they are often very temporary and rarely serious. This is because when botox is used in small doses it is not as lethal or toxic to the person as a whole organism as it would be in larger doses. A common side effect includes bruising at the site of the injection. Other side effects include headaches, allergic reactions, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), and flu-like symptoms. Other things that can happen as a result of botox injections is unusual facial expressions such as dropping eyes or a smile that is uneven, or in some cases a decrease in the ability to chew solid foods properly.

Dysport

Dysport is like Botox in that it is injected into the skin and it is also a form of botulism toxin. It has been said that Dysport seems to begin working faster than Botox, with it working in 1-2 days versus Botox working in 3-5. Dysport injections are also hugely popular among those who will spend any amount of money to look and feel younger, and has even been said to last longer than Botox. It is not clear why Dysport injections may work better than Botox and, indeed, it is not even clear THAT it works better than Botox injections.

Side Effects of Dysport

As with Botox, Dysport is also known to have a few side effects and drawbacks to their use. Bruising is also very common at the site of Dysport injections. Other side effects include numbness in the area, tingling, and swelling or bruising of the area. Another downside to using Dysport is that studies suggest it may cause more antibody formation than Botox. This is bad because, though not dangerous, it means that the body can form a resistance to the toxin used in Dysport and potentially cause it to stop working for you. For some clients, this reason alone is enough to choose Botox.
